In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and Superstorm Sandy in 2012, there is widespread agreement that healthcare facility preparedness in the US needs dramatic improvement. A pending release of a federal rule would impose emergency preparedness conditions on over 68,000 healthcare providers.
