When designing behavioral health facilities, designers and clinicians often rely on assumptions that have become "common knowledge". These "facts", however, are rarely evidence-based to determine whether they are truly valid. In this article, the author reviews ten issues to establish whether or not some of these "known" statements are actually correct.
