"The Joint Commission (TJC) has partnered with several other organizations to create the Barrier Management Symposium, a training program for those responsible for ensuring that fire and smoke barrier systems are functional and comply with the intent of the NFPA 101®: Life Safety Code®. The goal of the Barrier Management Symposium is to educate those responsible for managing the health care built environment and ensuring that the barrier systems crucial for a "defend in place" model are properly maintained".
