The
Wishard special care nursery continues to be nationally recognized as a
state-of-the-art Level III NICU. The success of the design was the
result of a truly collaborative effort between the design team and the
physicians and nurses. Much research went into the ergonomics of the
space to maximize the efficiency of the caregivers while providing a
nurturing environment for infants with critical needs. Full-size
working mock-ups of the care area for babies were constructed to make
sure that everything was in the right place prior to final construction.
The area where the nursery was built was in an existing space between
three older wings of the hospital. |
