was hired to design a new addition including a new entry lobby, dining
facilities, education center, physical therapy, a new 10 operating room
surgery suite, a new OB/GYN nursing unit, a new medical/surgical
nursing unit, laboratory, business offices, and administrative offices.
During the site design stage, the parking lot was expanded, retaining
all existing trees on the site.
A new entry lobby was created between the existing hospital and the new
addition. The lobby was skylit from above and includes reception,
registration, dining facilities, gift shop, outpatient surgery waiting,
and an open stair to the education facilities on the lower level.
Public elevators connect the lobby to all patient floors of the new and
existing hospital. The use of natural light, creative universal private
patient rooms, and a sterile core concept for surgery are just a few
examples of creative solutions for complex opportunities.
