| The addition and renovation
project at Floyd Memorial Hospital highlights
our expertise in developing a creative design solution
for a complex project. A new image was created for
the hospital within the demands of a diverse program,
established budget and aggressive construction schedule.
The new addition includes a new Heart and Vascular
Center; Emergency Department; Laboratory; Intensive
Cardiovascular and Transitional Care Units; Women’s
Center; Entrance Lobby; Gift Shop; and expansion
of the existing Surgical Department to include cardiac
surgery, orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery.
Artekna’s creative approach resulted in
a guaranteed maximum price from the
Construction Manager that was 1.5 million dollars
below the estimated construction cost. In order to meet a fast-track
schedule, eight separate bid packages were issued.
Close coordination with the Owner, Construction
Manager, consultants, and local, state, and federal
agencies was critical to ensuring a seamless process.
